Sunglasses for windows

Like sunglasses, Sunphade adapts to sunlight. It dims automatically when it’s bright and clears when it’s cloudy.

WHY SUNPHADE

Who We Serve

The benefits of adaptive photochromic technology to the people shaping tomorrow’s built environment.

"Mechanical solar shading systems are often directly detrimental to the perceived quality of buildings. This applies both to new construction and, perhaps even more so, to the rehabilitation and retrofit of the existing building stock.

At VILL, we consistently seek architectural solutions that open our buildings to their surroundings, and Sunphade clearly represents a compelling solution for our upcoming projects."

Ferrovial

Ferrovial’s facility in Seseña, Spain, is highly exposed to intense sunlight, leading to heat build-up and glare indoors. Sunphade installed its photochromic solar film to dynamically adapt to changing light conditions. The solution reduces heat and glare while maintaining natural daylight. The result is a more comfortable and energy-efficient indoor environment.

Fish Me

Sunphade partnered with Fish Me Fisketorget AS, a waterfront restaurant in Bergen. Due to its prime location at the harbor, the venue is highly exposed to direct sunlight, leading to glare and heat gain that can impact both guest experience and staff comfort. To address this, Sunphade installed its dynamic, photochromic film across selected glass surfaces.

Mustad Eiendom

Sunphade collaborated with Mustad Eiendom to provide smart solar control that supports indoor comfort, sustainability, and uninterrupted views. Sunphade’s photochromic solar film was applied to the building’s glass-enclosed stairwell to ease summer heat build-up and glare, while keeping daylight levels high and preserving the Oslo fjord panorama, thus achieving the desired performance with minimal structural changes and at a lower cost than conventional shading solutions.

Rikshospitalet

Sunphade partnered with Rikshospitalet, one of Norway’s leading medical centres in Oslo, to implement our solar construction on the hospital’s windows. The collaboration aimed to enhance patient comfort, improve energy efficiency, and create a more sustainable environment within the healthcare facility.

University of Oslo

Sunphade partnered with the University of Oslo (UiO) to explore the potential of dynamic solar control. In November 2024, our solar film was installed on selected windows to improve indoor comfort, reduce energy use, and maintain clear views—without altering the building’s design.
