Mustad Eiendom
Sunphade collaborated with Mustad Eiendom to provide smart solar control that supports indoor comfort, sustainability, and uninterrupted views. Sunphade’s photochromic solar film was applied to the building’s glass-enclosed stairwell to ease summer heat build-up and glare, while keeping daylight levels high and preserving the Oslo fjord panorama, thus achieving the desired performance with minimal structural changes and at a lower cost than conventional shading solutions.

Mustad Eiendom
The Challenge
Mustad Eiendom has a beautiful, fully glazed staiwell, stretching six floors. But with incredible views came intense heat and glare, especially in summer. Mustad Eiendom wanted a solution to reduce heat build-up without blocking natural light or the panoramic view of the Oslo fjord.
The Solution
Sunphade's photochromic solar film dynamically tints when sunlight hits the façade — creating comfortable conditions in summer while staying clear during darker months
The Result
Comfortable indoors while keeping the view. Sunphade now reduces heat and glare during peak sunlight while keeping the fjord views intact.
“For Mustad Eiendom, it is important to adopt sustainable solutions that also preserve the view, daylight, and the overall quality of our buildings. In this project, we have installed Sunphade on a glass-enclosed stairwell that previously caused significant heat buildup up through the floors. Traditional measures would have been both more expensive and more intrusive, while Sunphade provides us with an efficient and cost-effective alternative. With sun-exposed buildings and a beautiful view of the Oslo Fjord, solar shading that does not compromise the view is very interesting to us. Sunphade gives us new opportunities to work both smarter and more energy-efficiently.” — Johan Dybwad, Head of Projects (Property Operations) at Mustad Eiendom
